Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform high complexity testing and ensure accuracy of results. You will test patient specimens, maintain quality control, verify patient identity, and report results to providers under supervision.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and adherence to CAP, AABB, DNV, and FDA requirements as applicable. A collaborative environment with nursing and hospital departments is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of correct procedures to identify patients, label specimens, and verify adequate sampling.

Responsibilities

• Performs high complexity tests as directed by Laboratory Director, operating equipment used in analysis.
• Test patient specimens and maintain acceptable quality control; ensure proper patient identity.
• Identify and investigate unexpected or unacceptable test results; document corrective actions.
