AdventHealth is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I to perform analytical testing and laboratory procedures in La Grange, Illinois. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in related fields, national certification, and focuses on quality control and customer service. You will play a key role in supporting exceptional patient care through efficient laboratory operations and assist in training new staff.

This role is eligible for up to $7,500 sign on bonus for a two-year commitment. You must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements to the terms and conditions of the offer. Former associates of six month or less are not eligible.

The role you’ll contribute:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, conducts a variety of laboratory procedures in designated areas as licensed or certified. This role entails the analytical testing of blood and/or human biological specimens, requiring a moderate to high degree of both theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise in the certified area(s). Laboratory testing encompasses complex diagnostic and analytic assessments of specimens, including interpreting data with precision and accuracy according to established policies and procedures. Duties customarily involve a range of pre- and post-analytical work processes depending on the campus and department and may also require participation in on-call rotations. Professionals in this position are responsible for adhering to laboratory policies and procedures while maintaining quality control practices. This role may also involve managing selected aspects of laboratory processes or shifts, which could include workflow management, quality control processes, performance improvement activities, training of new employees, advanced problem-solving for customers and coworkers, and maintenance and upgrades of department equipment or computer systems. Additionally, writing or reviewing procedures and assisting lab leadership in meeting goals across various areas such as Team, Service, Clinical, Market, and Finance may be required. A strong commitment to outstanding customer service is essential, with an emphasis on maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The role may also involve the development and implementation of policies and procedures for new equipment and/or assays, including the development of quality control procedures that outline acceptable guidelines and monitoring. The Medical Laboratory Scientist I must perform, evaluate, and accurately record quality control testing on all reportable assays and ensure routine and unscheduled maintenance is performed timely to assure proper operation of medical laboratory equipment. Applicable experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science, or related field required.
