Job summary

Baptist Health - Central Alabama is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist for the evening shift. You will perform laboratory analyses accurately to support patient care and work closely with physicians and hospital staff.

The role requires an ASCP-certified MLT with an associate degree, and preferred higher degrees in life sciences. Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree with MLT and ASCP certification required.
• Bachelor/Master/Doctoral degree in related field from CLIA-qualified program.
• Active ASCP Medical Laboratory Technologist certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and courteous service to patients, physicians and staff by performing laboratory analyses accurately.
• Detect unusual conditions and take responsibility for problem solving.
• Handle additional duties within the scope of the role as assigned.

Summary

The Medical Lab Technologist shall provide timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing laboratory analyses accurately and efficiently. This individual will detect unusual conditions and assume responsibility for problem solving. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Education / Experience

Associate’s degree with Medical Laboratory Technology and clinical laboratory training culminating in national certification, as defined by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry required. Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Medical or Clinical Laboratory Sciences from an institution meeting CLIA personnel testing qualifications for moderate & high complexity testing.

License / Certification

Associate degree requires active ASCP Medical Laboratory Technologist certification
