Job summary

Memorial Hermann TMC campus seeks a Medical Technologist or MLT to join our team on day shift. The position is full-time with 5-8 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts; training occurs during the day from 6:30 to 3 p.m.

The role performs laboratory testing and procedures to support diagnosis and treatment of patients in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The position requires MLS/ASCP or AMT certification eligibility, with education pathways outlined for generalist MLS roles, including various

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution OR Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Science AND Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, biological, clinical/medical laboratory science
• Equivalency criteria include MLS/ASCP certifications (ASCP/AMT/ASCP-International) or CM/ASCP options and eligibility
• Microbiology/Molecular/Blood Bank/Chemistry specializations per site requirements at SW/TMC labs

Responsibilities

• Manages daily laboratory operations including specimen collections, processing, quality control, and various complexity testing.
• Interprets, correlates, and verifies test results with knowledge of techniques and instrumentation.
• Maintains testing analyzers and assists with instrument troubleshooting.
• Performs clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow.
• Maintains education and test competencies for applicable patient populations.
• Supports point-of-care testing throughout the hospital and blood bank operations for trauma services.
• Complies with policies and regulatory standards (TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, CLIA).
• Communicates effectively with hospital staff and contributes to quality initiatives.
