Job summary

Qualifications

• Must hold a Baccalaureate or Associate degree in Medical Technology, CLS, MLT, or a chemical/physical/biological science.
• Preferred ASCP or equivalent certification (M/ASCP, H/ASCP, C/ASCP).

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests supporting patient care and diagnosis.
• Maintains quality control and preventative maintenance; manages inventory and statistics.
• Participates in QA, performance improvement, and staff training as assigned.
• Provides timely and accurate laboratory results and communicates data to care providers.
• Ensures specimens are collected and processed per guidelines and proper patient identification is observed.
• Demonstrates infection control practices and supports compliance with regulatory standards.
• Works primarily in Microbiology and may assist other sections as needed.
• Mentors new employees, students, or interns and participates in bench techniques.
