Job summary

St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a high-performing laboratory team. You will receive blood specimens, perform routine and advanced tests, and help ensure accurate patient results with both automated and manual methods.

The role includes antibody screening, cross-matching, and reporting critical values. You will maintain various analyzers and participate in implementing new testing methods to keep the lab at the forefront of care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Technology program with certification
• ASCP MT/MLS/MLT or equivalent certification
• Licensure must be completed within 3 months of hire
• Minimum of 1 year hospital or clinical lab experience preferred
• American Red Cross or AHA BLS/BLCS certification

Responsibilities

• Receive blood specimens and perform blood testing
• Conduct routine or special tests using automated and manual methods
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment (analyzers, osmometers, electrodes)
• Perform antibody screening, identification and cross-matching
• Notify nursing/physicians of critical lab values
• Implement new testing methods and instrumentation to stay current
