Job Summary:

Performs routine and complex clinical pathology testing, manages laboratory instruments, accurately records results, and ensures timely delivery. Responsible for the performance of laboratory test methodologies used in diagnosis, treatment, and patient response evaluation, applying clinical knowledge to achieve accurate results for quality patient care.

The Hematopathology Department at VUMC seeks a Medical Lab Scientist 2 at our new MetroCenter location. This role includes a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Process and analyze Flow Cytometry, Protein Electrophoresis, and bone marrow samples independently.
2. Support Hematopathology testing, including assay interpretation, troubleshooting, and instrument maintenance.
3. Work Monday to Friday, 10-hour shifts, with occasional Saturday and holiday coverage.
4. Obtain certification within 120 days if not already certified.

Qualifications:

• Licenses: Tennessee Medical Laboratory Act, ASCP MLS certification, AMT Medical Technologist.
• Experience: Less than 1 year relevant work experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
