Responsibilities
  • Collect and process blood specimens for testing, perform clerical and processing functions.
  • Set up, maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment following safety and infection control procedures.
  • Receive, centrifuge, accession, process, and transport specimens; verify related records.
  • May draw and collect blood samples as per policy.
  • Order add-on tests, manage pending lists, resolve duplicate orders.
  • Perform clerical duties: answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting demographic data, ordering tests, reviewing ABN, data entry, and filing.
Requirements
  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: Preferred credentials include BLS Provider, Phlebotomy certification from ASCP-BOC, Medical Laboratory Assistant credentials from ASCP-BOC or AMT, or Tech credential from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent, or 1 year of relevant experience. Licenses and certifications can substitute for education/experience if applicable.
