Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ASCP certification preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred for Offsite Lab sections.
  • One year of clinical laboratory/medical experience and office experience preferred.
  • Two years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Technical, organizational, multitasking, attention to detail, and computer experience required.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

  • Complete specimen accessioning, preparation, processing, delivery and storage.
  • May perform phlebotomy and other specimen collection.
  • Perform clerical tasks and specimen accessioning per testing protocols.
  • Maintain lab operations via equipment maintenance, quality control, and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform waived tests, document patient reports, quality control, and troubleshooting.
  • Document daily/weekly/monthly tasks on area lists.
  • Support service excellence and patient care by adapting communication and resolving issues.
  • Participate in ongoing education and cultivate mutual respect and inclusiveness.

Overview:Job Description Summary:Provides clerical, registration, and patient care support. Ensures that specimen preparation, accessioning, and processing is completed. Performs waived laboratory testing in applicable lab sections.Offsite Lab Sections: Responsible for specimen collection including venipuncture, capillary, sweat chloride, and miscellaneous other collections.Job Description:Essential Functions:Completes technical tasks such as specimen accessioning, specimen preparation, and processing, and specimen delivery and storage. May include phlebotomy and other specimen collection.Performs clerical tasks and specimen accessioning in accordance with testing protocols and criteria. Maintains laboratory operations by performing equipment maintenance, quality control, and preventive maintenance.Performs waived laboratory testing, documents patient reports, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting appropriately.Demonstrates knowledge of and upholds applicable laws and regulations related to position and laboratory operations.Documents daily, weekly, and monthly tasks on assigned work area task lists.Delivers service excellence and quality patient care through adjusting communication styles to adapt to various cultural differences, addressing client concerns by researching problems and identifying resolutions, using basic troubleshooting skills, and efficiently handling interruptions and functions with changing environments or circumstances.Provides feedback that is useful and assists in individual improvement. Actively engages in and supports efforts to develop an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusiveness.
