An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Assistant to join their team. Job Summary: The Medical Lab Assistant performs preanalytic specimen collection, identification, order entry, verification, specimen handling, and communication duties. Receives phone calls from internal and external customers, triages calls appropriately, or relays messages to staff in an accurate and timely manner. Demonstrates proficiency in operating multiple electronic applications used for scheduling appointments, ordering tests, obtaining test results, messaging, recording patient information, etc. These services may be provided for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of one year experience in high complexity medical labs performing specimen collection, computer data entry, and pediatric collections preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent dexterity and analytical skills. Ability to plan and organize technical work, manage workload, operate technical instruments and equipment, input data, and type. Clear speaking abilities in English. Ability to use resource materials independently to resolve and document challenges constructively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, matching the style to the message and audience. Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, vendors. Provides timely information, constructive feedback, and fosters cooperation and collaboration. Explains and teaches. Responds to guidance constructively. Detail-oriented. Able to reason and solve problems effectively. Organizes work, services multiple requests simultaneously, while maintaining quality and professionalism. Self-motivated with minimal direction. Articulates logical arguments supporting conclusions. Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility. Demonstrates adequate skill in pediatric phlebotomy, resulting in acceptable specimens for assays.
Licensures and Certifications: California Phlebotomy Technician certification and Basic Life Support certification required. Valid driver’s license required at the time of hire.
