Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Certificate that meets the mandates of the laws and regulations of the State of California.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory information systems, preferred.
• Appropriate interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers of the Medical Center.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Laboratory Assistant CPT functions with the general supervision of senior technical/clinical personnel. Responsibilities may include collecting, receiving, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens or blood from voluntary blood donors and communicating information about tests and test results.
• The MLA CPT activities include operational and support functions, assessment of blood donor health histories and assisting in the orientation and training of new employees.
• Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served.
