Medical Insurance Customer Service Advisor

This role involves calling new patients to explain billing processes, proactively reaching out to patients regarding billing changes, managing the Financial Assistance Program (FAP), and responding to inbound billing calls.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred, especially with collections, verification, or analysis experience.
  • Customer service call center experience or equivalent education and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate billing procedures to new patients.
  • Proactively inform patients of billing policy changes.
  • Address patient concerns during calls or escalate as needed.
  • Follow up with patients and resolve issues timely.
  • Serve as a primary contact for patients regarding financial assistance, statements, insurance changes, and charges.
  • Manage and communicate all aspects of the FAP.
  • Update patient information in the database.
  • Input data into the company platform to maintain records.
  • Share knowledge with team members and work collaboratively.
  • Interact positively and respectfully with others.
  • Respect patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Prompt, polite telephone manner.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills; quick learner of Lynx and CPR+.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
