Job Description:

The Medical Gas Specialist will be responsible for performing routine, preventative maintenance, and repairs on Medical Gas Products. Preventative maintenance should be conducted in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations (with regards to schedule and scope) in accordance with NFPA 99. This position requires a person who can work with customers in high-stress and ambiguous situations, while maintaining a positive and supportive demeanor. This person's communication skills must be clear, concise, and well-developed. They will also answer questions raised by stakeholders about the system, may represent the Maintenance Department in meetings about medical gas equipment, and participate in discussions about ongoing operations and planning.

Essential Functions


  • Performs diagnostics on malfunctioning products, determines possible causes for malfunctions and performs repairs as suggested by diagnostics and assessment.

  • Tests and document the proper operating parameters prior to and following preventative maintenance and repairs.

  • Provides walk-through evaluations and basic system assessments.

  • Provides a high level of customer service, responding to customer needs and working to satisfy customer expectations.

  • Develop rapport with facility management through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism.

  • Trains and assists other Service Technicians as requested.

  • Provides technical support to facilities management and other personnel as required.

  • Always promotes and practices proper safety procedures and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Willing to travel in a quick response.

  • This position will require some travel and minimal overnight stays out of town.

Qualifications


  • Current ASSE 6010 and 6040 certifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills (3-5 Years).

  • Valid driver's license. (Position requires individual to travel between facilities to provide support)

  • Experience in implementing, monitoring and planning Medical Gas, Air and Vacuum maintenance programs within large multi-hospital systems.Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer hardware (pc, mouse, monitor, keyboard).

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

  • Self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Strong customer service orientation with a keen attention to detail.

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.

  • Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.


Physical Requirements


  • Lifting up to 40 lbs. regularly, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, standing.

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information.

  • Frequent interactions that require verbal and non-verbal communication.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing.

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

  • For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
