Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, MI is hiring a Medical Business Specialist (Receptionist) to be the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. You will verify patient and insurance information and enter data accurately into the registration system.

You will schedule patient appointments, greet patients professionally in person and by phone, and help set the visit tone.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year Customer Service experience required.
• Proficient in typing, Windows, and experience with multiple computer systems.
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Practice Business Associate or working in a similar healthcare role.

Responsibilities

• You are the first point of contact for patients & their families, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience.
• You will obtain/verify all required patient and insurance information and enter the information into the registration system accurately.
• You will schedule patient appointments which may include return visits, referrals, diagnostic testing, or procedures.
• You will greet patients professionally in person and over the telephone and respond effectively to patients and their families.

What’s Required

High school graduate or GED

• 6 months to 1 year Customer Service experience required. Usually achieved by previously working with the public with minimal supervision.

Proficient in typing, Windows, and experience with multiple computer systems.

What’s Required - Specialist

High school graduate or GED. Associate Degree Preferred

A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Practice Business Associate or working in a similar healthcare role.
