How does a Medical Equipment Installer support STERIS?

Are you an independent go-getter who is mechanically inclined and prioritizes Customer satisfaction and safety? Join our team as a Medical Equipment Installer! In this role, you will support critical hospital operations through the installation of hospital equipment, including sterilizers, lights/booms, and utility connections, used in various settings such as operating rooms and sterile processing areas. Installers ensure the highest level of Customer satisfaction from installation through post-installation, supporting continuous care for hospital patients. This position involves extensive travel and overnight stays.

Position Details

This is a remote, customer-facing role. Candidates must be based in New York to support and service our Customers within this territory.

Travel Expectations

You will travel within a designated territory to various installation sites via company vehicle or air travel, typically booked 1-2 weeks in advance. Weekly travel is extensive, including day trips and overnight trips, sometimes lasting up to a week. Hours vary based on customer needs, and overtime is common but not guaranteed.

Territory

The primary territory is Manhattan and New York City, with support for Westchester County and northern New Jersey when needed.

  • Verify that utilities and dimensions are adequate before installation.
  • Perform installation tasks including uncrating, assembling, positioning, leveling, utility connections, and testing.
  • Complete service documentation electronically.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction post-installation, including cleaning and addressing questions or issues.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of mechanical experience or an Associate's degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or related field plus 1+ year of experience.
  • Plumbing and electrical experience preferred.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computers and Windows.
  • Flexibility to handle changing priorities and work outside normal hours.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to meet hospital/customer credentialing requirements.
