Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health is seeking a Medical Epidemiologist to support surveillance, investigation, and outbreak response for communicable and other diseases. You will guide community healthcare providers and train staff on disease management and public health messaging.

Responsibilities include medical policy development, data interpretation, and serving as a spokesperson during public health emergencies.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an approved U.S. Residency or Fellowship training program.
• A valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Arizona, or eligibility to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical, epidemiological, and infection control guidance for disease surveillance and outbreak investigations.
• Ensure disease surveillance and reporting align with CDC and state regulations.
• Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to develop medical policies and public health guidance.
• Provide expert consultation to healthcare providers and the community on communicable and non-communicable diseases.
