Job summary

Avalere Health in Philadelphia is seeking a Medical Editor to support assigned projects by editing and proofreading materials, checking data for accuracy, and contributing to copyright permissions and related tasks.

You will work with internal teams and external collaborators, apply AMA style guidelines, manage multiple accounts, and advance your medical editing skills through hands-on editing and data-checking assignments.

Qualifications

• Degree in a scientific or related field; advanced degree advantageous.
• 1+ year in medical or scientific editing within healthcare consultancy or medical communications.
• Familiar with AMA Manual of Style and applying guidelines to deliverables.
• Knowledge of copyright permissions and reference retrieval tools.
• Proficient in PubMed searches and literature reviews; strong internet research skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills; EndNote experience; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread scientific materials for accuracy and compliance with style requirements.
• Review content critically, raise queries, and recommend changes to improve flow and audience suitability.
• Apply client-specific style guidelines and determine appropriate editing levels per project.
• Perform data checks to verify scientific information and source references.
• Assess copyright requirements and provide practical guidance to teams.
• Manage work across multiple projects to deliver high-quality outputs on time.
• Communicate proactively with editorial and account teams; contribute to successful delivery.
