Job summary

Coda Search│Staffing is seeking a Senior Medical Editor for a contract engagement supporting full-time hours, with preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones. The role focuses on medical accuracy, FDA/AMA compliance, and high-level editorial quality for pharmaceutical advertising.

The ideal candidate will have advanced editing experience in pharma/healthcare, strong medical terminology, and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and MS Word. ELS certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of editing experience in pharma/healthcare advertising.
• Proficient AMA editorial style.
• Strong medical terminology knowledge.
• ELS certification preferred but not required.
• Proficient with Adobe Acrobat and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Reviews DTC/DP pharma advertising materials at various stages for medical accuracy and FDA/AMA compliance.
• Performs substantive editing to improve scientific quality, readability, and logical flow.
• Ensures editorial compliance with FDA regulations.
• Supports editorial needs of 3-5 brands with high-science, data-heavy projects.
• Fact-checks references and claims against medical reference documents.
• Proofreads and supports proofreaders as needed.
• Creates reference binders and supporting documents as required.
• Maintains core claims documents, medical reference libraries, and brand style guides.
• Keeps reference documents updated and current.
• Collaborates with copywriters and project managers to ensure timely edits within the project lifecycle.
• Stores work on the server for easy team access.

Our client, an award winning pharmaceutical advertising agency, is seeing a Senior Medical Editor to join their staff. This position will be starting off as a contract engagement, supporting full-time hours.

Must live in Eastern or Central time zones
