Job summary

Correctional Healthcare Partners (CHP Health) is seeking a part-time Medical Director/Designated Health Authority for services in Whatcom County Jail. The role is a 1099 contractor with 8-hour week commitments, requiring a physician licensed in the state and DEA registration, plus a valid CPR and relevant board certification.

The Medical Director will oversee medical services, ensure compliance with industry standards, and report to Health Services Administrator and CMD/CMO, with in-person work

Qualifications

• Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in the state of employment.
• Current DEA registration, ability to obtain a DEA X number as applicable.
• A valid CPR card and board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
• Minimum of 1 year of primary care experience with administrative experience in corrections or managed health care delivery preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, manage, and evaluate medical services to meet contractual obligations and client expectations.
• Ensure all medical services comply with NCCHC, ACA, and professional medical standards; has final clinical decision authority at the facility.

Medical Director/Designated Health Authority

Position Requirements

Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in the state of employment, current DEA registration, ability to obtain a DEA “X” number (as applicable), a valid CPR card, and be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. A minimum of 1 year experience in primary care with administrative experience in corrections and/or managed health care delivery preferred. Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.

Physical Demands

Position

Summary

Under the direct administrative supervision of the Health Services Administrator, and under the direct clinical supervision of the CMD/CMO. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that company goals and objectives are achieved in their assigned service delivery area by leading, directing, managing, and evaluating medical services to ensure that contractual obligations and client expectations are met. Responsible for assuring all medical services are in compliance with the requirements of NCCHC, ACA, and professional medical standards. Has final authority for clinical decisions at the facility.
