Medical Director, Weight Loss Specialty (MD or DO)

United States - Remote

About The Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Medical Director (MD or DO) to join our team in a remote capacity. This role will be a member of the clinical leadership team and report to our Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

This critical team member will lead and develop various areas of our clinical operations, including but not limited to managing our growing medical weight loss program(s), improving and strengthening clinical quality metrics, and developing/mentoring medical providers in virtual health best practices and world-class standards of care. The ideal candidate will bring years of virtual healthcare experience, knowledge and experience within weight loss/obesity care, and proven experience of driving operational excellence in a fast-growing company.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage clinical aspects of various critical client relationships
  • Work alongside the CMO and existing Medical Director to develop and manage clinical protocols towards process improvement and excellence.
  • Alongside medical leadership, maximize the provider group’s clinical quality, productivity, and performance output via collaboration with other members of the Clinical Operations team
  • Supervise and manage physicians within the provider group ensuring patient services are delivered effectively within the scope of the program
  • Work closely with all levels of stakeholders, demonstrating project management skills towards problem identification and resolution
  • Identify areas of process improvements and inefficiencies, building strategies towards improving them
  • Provide direct patient care, over an assigned percentage, providing safe, effective, and compassionate care via tele-medicine to patients across the country (based on licensure, for a wide variety of conditions).
  • Effectively communicate expectations, motivate individuals, foster collaboration between departments, and demonstrate a proven ability to provide positive and motivating leadership that supports teamwork
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are:

  • Licensed and board certified M.D. or D.O. is required (internal medicine, family medicine, or emergency medicine).
  • Active unrestricted medical license in 5-10 states within the United States is required
  • Five (5) years relevant Director experience is required, along with a minimum of three (3) years of managing medical providers in a U.S. health care system
  • Extensive years of experience in virtual/tele-health is required
  • Prior experience in clinical protocol development/operational best practices and leading teams towards operational excellence is required
  • Prior experience with medical weight loss/obesity care is required
    • American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) certification is not required, however years of experience within this specialty, as an MD or DO provider, is required.
  • Computer proficiency is required with systems such as Google Suite, Slack, Notion, Zoho, and multiple electronic medical record systems
  • Proven experience to adapt quickly to new technologies, such as software and operating systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player mentality with agility to work across multiple teams, levels and stakeholders
  • Capacity to shift and remain agile, as needed, in a rapidly growing startup environment
  • Passionate, and empathetic leader that enjoys motivating and growing a successful team
    • Bonus Points: Prior experience with other specialties, such as testosterone replacement therapy, hormone replacement therapy, functional/longevity/peptide medicine, remote patient monitoring, and chronic care management
