Job summary

Amerivet is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian in El Cajon, CA to lead our GP animal hospital. The role balances hands-on patient care with strategic medical leadership, mentoring doctors, and safeguarding hospital quality and client trust.

You will drive clinical standards, foster a collaborative culture, and partner with the Practice Manager on operations and growth initiatives. A strong track record in veterinary leadership and a DVM is essential.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent is required.
• Active licensure in state of practice is required.
• Active DEA registration is required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of veterinary practice experience.
• Commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Set, model, and uphold medical quality standards for the practice.
• Lead and mentor veterinarians and support staff.
• Oversee medical records, client communication, and appropriate charging for services.
