The Pet Hospital of La Mesa, part of AmeriVet, seeks a Medical Director to lead our close-knit team in La Mesa, CA. We offer autonomy in medicine, strong support, and ongoing learning through CE stipends and an engaged network of professionals.

Expect to oversee clinical quality, mentor veterinarians, and balance hands-on care with leadership to drive outcomes and growth while maintaining high patient and client standards.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD required with active licensure in the state.
• Minimum 3–5 years as a practicing veterinarian.
• Leadership experience, multi-location preferred.
• Commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Supervise associate and partner doctors within the practice.
• Set and uphold medical quality standards per AmeriVet guidelines.
• Foster a collaborative hospital culture prioritizing patient care and safety.
• Coach, mentor, and manage veterinarians on clinical proficiency and client communication.
• Provide medical oversight in partnership with the Practice Manager.
• Lead regular doctor meetings and align medical protocols with hospital goals.
