Job summary

Werfen is a global diagnostics leader seeking a Medical Director to guide clinical requirements for Werfen products and align clinician needs with product performance. You will be a primary interface with medical experts and participate in cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies.

This position requires interaction with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Marketing, Operations, and Manufacturing; up to 30% travel is expected to support global activities and education.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of medical/clinical practice or medical affairs experience.
• Medical Degree with a license to practice in the US is preferred; PhD with relevant certification and experience in immunohematology will be considered.
• Business related experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.
• Experience in Werfen's specialized diagnostic focus areas strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory agencies: Represents the company as a medical expert in interactions with regulatory and oversight agencies worldwide, such as the FDA.
• Provides clinical consultation to customers worldwide relative to the transfusion specialty area and clinical results.
• Educational projects: Assists with developing and delivering relevant information, educational material, presentations and seminars useful and appropriate for clinicians.
• Medical associations: Represents the Company in the key global industry and medical associations, initiatives, formulation of clinical diagnostic guidelines.
• Literature: Conducts literature reviews as needed to support medical affairs related activities and decisions.
• Provides clinical assessment, in consultation with external 3rd parties as needed, relative to risk analysis of product performance or events.
• Supports the development and preparation of strategies, information and materials for effective product positioning.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Overview

Job Summary

The Medical Director represents the voice of the clinician and patient to the organization. Responsible for providing guidance and direction to the organization regarding the necessary or desirable clinical require-ments for Werfen products. The Medical Director relates the needs of clinicians to product performance requirements and features, develops and provides information and education regarding the products' efficacy in satisfying these requirements.

This position will be one of the company's primary interfaces with key medical experts and opinion leaders. The Medical Director will participate as a member of cross-functional teams (including Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, Research & Development, Marketing, Operations/Manufacturing and Commercial teams) to develop and execute strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience for the position:

Management has the discretion of substituting relevant work experience for a degree and/or making exceptions to the years of experience requirement.
