Job Description:

The Renown Medical Group Department of Surgery is seeking an outstanding Medical Director of Thoracic Surgery to develop the Division of Thoracic Surgery within the Surgical Oncology division and the William N Pennington Cancer Institute. Under the direction of the Chair of Surgery, the Thoracic Surgeon will lead in developing both benign and thoracic oncology divisions, providing expertise in medical and surgical care for patients with benign and oncologic thoracic diseases. Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and managing thoracic surgical diseases, collaborating with mid-level providers, and participating in public health education, administration, teaching, and research. The ideal candidate is a board-certified Thoracic Surgeon with at least 2 years of experience, completed an accredited General Surgery residency and a Thoracic Surgery Fellowship, and possesses a strong work ethic and collegiality. This is a non-cardiac, purely thoracic surgery position.

The candidate should qualify for an academic appointment with the University of Nevada Reno Medical School, contribute to clinical trials and the William N Pennington Cancer Institute, and participate in educational activities for medical students and residents. The role involves attending tumor boards and working closely with pulmonary, trauma, and critical care teams.
