MeadowWood Behavioral Health Hospital is the Premier Mental Health and Co-Occurring Addiction Treatment Center for Adolescents, Adults, and Seniors in New Castle & Wilmington, DE. This 130-bed acute care hospital offers services including Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Detox and Substance Abuse Treatment, Inpatient Treatment, and specialized Adult and Geriatric Programs to meet community needs.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Director/Psychiatrist to join our team!

Overview:

The Medical Director/Psychiatrist will provide leadership, quality assurance, supervision, and overall medical management of the facility, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the quality, efficiency, and management of services within the facility.
  2. Define protocols and assist in clinical decision-making regarding patient care.
  3. Provide direct patient care and support other departments with physician interactions.
  4. Supervise clinical staff and administrative/support staff.
  5. Act as liaison between medical staff, other staff, and organizational leadership.
  6. Monitor staff adherence to medical and clinical policies.
  7. Provide backup call coverage.
  8. Train and develop personnel.
  9. Perform physical exams, obtain patient histories, and order diagnostic tests.
  10. Prescribe medications and treatments, and manage behavioral or mental health issues.
  11. Maintain current medical records compliant with regulations and policies.
  12. Manage facility finances, including budgets, billing, and spending.
  13. Develop organizational goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO).
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Previous Medical Director experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
  • DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances.
