AbbVie in Mettawa, IL seeks a Medical Director/Scientific Director for Medical Affairs, Precision Medicine to lead US CDx strategy in oncology, with a strong background in diagnostics, pathology, biomarkers and cancer therapeutics. The role is based at our Mettawa headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule (3 days in office).

You will build external partnerships with diagnostic partners, academic and reference labs; develop and execute a biomarker evidence plan; and lead medical affairs

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver a comprehensive, U.S. focused medical strategy for CDx-dependent indications overseeing execution of key deliverables.
• Develop and implement the Medical Affairs strategy for upcoming CDx launches.
• Build and maintain key external relationships with diagnostic partners, academic and community labs, and reference labs.
• Cultivate relationships with expert pathologists and key opinion leaders.
• Forge strong partnerships with leading pathology societies
• Represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional Oncology Precision Medicine teams across the organization.
• Act as the medical affairs lead on the Integrated Brand team and Medical Affairs team.
• Develop and execute a biomarker and CDx evidence generation plan in collaboration with Precision Medicine Development, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and Therapeutic Area teams.
• Execute key functional deliverables aligned with the CDx medical strategy, including evidence generation to address biomarker gaps.
• Medical review of scientific publications and educational initiatives for biomarkers and testing.
• Review of medical promotional materials for biomarker and testing content.
• Collaboration with Value and Evidence teams on guideline strategies for biomarkers and testing.
• Insight generation via advisory boards and engagements with external experts.
• Develop and implement a congress strategy for pathologists, including EE engagements and digital initiatives.
• Support oncology congresses with biomarker and testing materials in partnership with the Therapeutic Area team.
