Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies seeks a part-time Staff Physician (MD/DO) at Parnell Correctional Facility in Jackson, Michigan. The physician works under the Site Medical Director with significant independence and leads clinical care for the facility's patients.

The role emphasizes adherence to medical standards, documentation quality, and team collaboration, with a focus on on-site emergency care and patient-centered service in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed physician in state of employment.
• Current DEA registration.
• Board certified and qualified by state laws/regulations to practice medicine.

Responsibilities

• Maintains SOAP-format medical records, with legible, signed entries.
• Countersigns verbal/telephone orders within 72 hours.
• Adheres to formulary and requests approval for non-formulary meds when needed.
• Uses in-house resources before referring off-site for treatment.
• Provides on-site emergency care and CPR as needed.
• Attends medical staff meetings and conducts in-service education.
