Medical Director - Orthopedic Surgery - Remote

Join UnitedHealth Group as a Medical Director in Orthopedic Surgery. This remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere within the U.S. and involves providing physician support within Enterprise Clinical Services, focusing on clinical review and benefit coverage determinations.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Conduct coverage reviews based on member benefits and policies, making coverage determinations.
2. Document clinical review findings in compliance with policies and regulations.
3. Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with requesting providers as needed.
4. Interpret benefit language and policies during clinical reviews.
5. Participate in daily clinical rounds and collaborate with providers and internal teams to ensure accurate benefit determinations.
6. Assist in holiday and call coverage rotations.

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Active, unrestricted medical license.
• At least 5 years of clinical practice post-residency.
• Understanding of Evidence-Based Medicine.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in utilization review and clinical coverage.
• Excellent communication, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
