WVUHS Medical Group seeks a Medical Director of Orthopedics. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary location of Uniontown, PA.
Position Summary:
The Medical Director of Orthopedics will provide clinical and strategic leadership for the orthopedic service line with a focus on comprehensive orthopedic care. This role encompasses patient care, program development, and quality improvement while fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence in clinical outcomes. This position works as a dyad partner with the Orthopedics Service Line Director to oversee and expand services, including Upper Extremity, Interventional Pain, Total Joint, Sports Medicine, and Podiatry, while coordinating with the spine surgery team to ensure seamless care.
Duties:
Provide direct clinical care within their fellowship specialty area, such as adult reconstructive surgery or other orthopedic subspecialties. Experience in advanced reconstructive surgery is preferred. Serve as the primary physician leader for orthopedic providers, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and integration of evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes. Develop and expand comprehensive orthopedic services in collaboration with the Orthopedics Service Line Director, focusing on quality, safety, and patient experience. Collaborate with hospital leadership to identify opportunities for growth, financial planning, and service line optimization and delivery of effective and efficient orthopedic care. Engage with referring physicians, system partners, and community stakeholders to strengthen relationships, improve regional reputation, and enhance referrals. Oversee recruitment, retention, and mentorship of orthopedic surgeons, APPs, and support staff to maintain a robust clinical team. Lead initiatives to improve key quality metrics, including complication rates, patient satisfaction, and postoperative recovery.
Qualifications:
MD or DO or foreign equivalent with board certification in Orthopedic Surgery. Fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery, total joint, or other orthopedic subspecialties is strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice with leadership experience in an orthopedic setting. Eligibility for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. All qualifications must be met at the time of the appointment
Preferred Skills:
Fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery or similar fellowship subspecialty training is preferred. Strong understanding of orthopedic value-based care models and surgical innovation. Experience working in a community hospital with ties to an academic medical center
