Parexel is looking for a Medical Director with a very strong background in Ophthalmology to join our Global Medical Sciences team. The role can be based remotely in the US or Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a medical expert with specialized therapeutic expertise, initiating and maintaining medical and consultative relationships with clients.
  • Consult on early engagement and pre-award efforts and serve as a medical monitor for contracted projects, potentially taking leadership roles by mentoring junior MDs or managing a team of physicians where appropriate.
  • Deliver Medical Monitoring Delivery & PV Support for projects in alignment with contracted agreements and assigned roles (Global Lead Physician or Regional Lead Physician).
  • Provide high-quality medical consultation on protocol development or drug development programs, medical review of documents, collaboration on internal therapeutic area meetings, training module development, white papers, slide sets, and publications.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, solicit and address client feedback regarding medical study-related activities.
  • Contribute to business development by providing medical expertise/leadership in Proposal Development Teams for client bid pursuits.

Knowledge And Experience
  • Experience in clinical medicine (general or specialist qualifications) with Fellowship or specialty training in Ophthalmology, kept up to date
  • Background in clinical aspects of drug development, including Medical Monitoring and study design/execution (preferred)
  • Clinical practice experience
  • Good knowledge of the drug development process including drug safety (preferred)
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Medicine (preferred)
  • Experience leading, mentoring and managing individuals or a team (preferred)
Education
  • US Board certified in Ophthalmology or Canadian equivalent
  • Experience as a Physician in Industry or as a clinical trial investigator is required
  • Previous CRO experience is strongly preferred
  • Medically qualified in an acknowledged medical school with completion of basic clinical medicine training (residency/internship)
Travel

The ability to travel 15% domestically or internationally is required.
