Medical Director - Gastroenterology - Evicore by Evernorth - Remote

As a Gastroenterology Medical Director at eviCore, part of Evernorth Health Services, a division of The Cigna Group, you'll provide evidence-based medical reviews for patient care, collaborate with healthcare providers, and stay current on healthcare regulations and industry developments. How you’ll make a difference:

1. Start training remotely with support from trainers, mentors, and leadership.
2. Complete time-sensitive, specialized evidence-based medical case reviews for medical necessity using eviCore’s case management software.
3. Conduct peer-to-peer consultations with physicians to discuss medical necessity and appropriateness of services.
4. Recommend alternative services or treatments as necessary.
5. Collaborate with over 500 eviCore physician colleagues to ensure patients receive proper evidence-based care.

Requirements:

• M.D. or D.O. with active U.S. medical license, board certified in Gastroenterology by ABMS or AOA
• Eligible for additional state licensure as required
• 5 years of relevant clinical experience post-residency/fellowship
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws
• Utilization Review Accreditation and NCQA standards are a plus
• Ability to commit to a set, weekly schedule (Monday–Friday)
• Strong computer skills and ability to work autonomously with automated systems
• Meet physical demands including typing, speaking, and listening
• Company-provided encrypted workstation connected via wired internet with minimum speeds of 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload

Anticipated annual salary: $203,200 – $338,600, depending on experience and location. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus plan.
