Position Summary:

The Medical Director, Clinician Experience is responsible for being the solution expert and providing comprehensive functionality, service and workflow knowledge during the sales process. This role serves as the clinical domain and industry expert for athenaOne and is responsible for creating and maintaining value driven presentations, clinical solution demonstrations, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and competitors. The Medical Director, Clinician Experience will also interact with other athenahealth teams providing solution expertise provide a voice of sales, influencing marketing materials and solution development. The Medical Director, Clinician Experience assists in developing clinical depth across the Company through advisory partnerships with the Client, Marketing, Operations and Product Organizations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to t ravel required - ~50% - 60% (including occasional weekends).

  • Serves as a prospect advocate who understands client’s current state and vision for future state.

  • Provides in-depth clinical workflow, value, and feature and functionality knowledge of the solution during the sales process.

  • Partners as a trusted advisor to the sales team, helping to form comprehensive strategies for each opportunity.

  • Demonstrates the ability to influence deal strategy based on understanding of how to best position athena for success.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of best practice clinical workflow scenarios, combining impactful real-life scenarios with athena ’ s strongest positioning.

  • Develops physician to physician relationships during sales process

  • Participates in sales events such as tradeshows, roundtable events, regional meetings and user’s conference meetings

  • Acts as a liaison from sales to other athenahealth stakeholders, such as marketing, clinical content, product development, regarding new industry trends, requirements and solution gaps.

  • Support the sales demo environment by advocating and developing value-based specialty workflow that others can leverage

  • Provide sales with general education regarding specialty needs, industry trends

  • Work with other Solution Consultants on value selling, effective demonstration / presentation techniques, and other key responsibilities of the position.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Medical Degree

  • 2+ years Clinical/Practice experience

Typical Qualifications :

  • Excellent Communication Skills – both verbal and written

  • Ability to command a room of varied audiences in order to influence buyer’s perception of athena

  • Proven sales presentation and demonstration skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Proven self-starter, able to work autonomously and learn independently

  • Experience with multi-tasking and project coordination

  • Able to think on your feet, react quickly, and maintain composure in stressful situations.

  • The ability to function collaboratively with a diverse team, both directing and taking direction.

  • Apply creativity and judgment in developing new approaches and solutions.

  • Supports and encourages the athenahealth value drivers.

  • A team player who can also work independently and is a self-starter.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite

  • Ability to work off-hours when required
