Job summary

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Medical Director of Addiction Medicine (MD/DO) to oversee the Methadone Clinic, outpatient services, and inpatient oversight. The role combines clinical care with administrative leadership and supervision of 5 PAs/NPs and 1 physician.

Board certification/eligibility and completion of an Addiction Medicine fellowship are required. The position is based in the UHS New Horizons Outpatient Addiction Medicine department in New York’s Southern Tier.

Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a Medical Director Addiction Medicine Physician (M.D. or D.O.) providing comprehensive addiction medicine care to patients with substance use disorders. The position would be 20% Methadone (MAT) Clinic, 20% New Horizons Out-patient Clinic, 55% Administrative and 5% In-patient oversight. In-patient Unit has 20 beds. We also have a Methadone Clinic supporting approximately 620 patients. Position would manage and have oversight of 5 Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioners and 1 Physician. Must be board certified/eligible. Must have completed an ACGME accredited Addiction Medicine fellowship. Primary Department, Division, or Unit: UHS New Horizons Outpatient Addiction Medicine.

Annual Compensation Range: $310,249 - $326,600.

Salary Range: $310,249 - $326,600 annually plus stipend for Medical Director role.

Key Responsibilities

• The physician would perform histories and physical exams and medication management visits, and offers medical care for complications of substance use disorders, as clinically appropriate.
• Engages in all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis and treatment.
• Orders labs, EKGs, and other tests as clinically indicated.
• Leads and/or attends multidisciplinary team meetings in the Addiction Medicine Department.

Location & Work Hours

Office hours Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
