Medix seeks a physician leader to oversee utilization management, authorize services, and determine appropriate levels of care for inpatient and outpatient settings.

The candidate must hold an MD or DO, current board certification, and an active, unrestricted NC license. The role offers fully remote work with on-site training in Raleigh, NC, a stable 40-hour week, and a flexible schedule within EST.

• Provide expert guidance and oversight for health service requests including authorization and level of care decisions.
• Ensure integrity of utilization management across initial, concurrent reviews, appeals, and level of care determinations.
• Participate in internal reviews of inpatient and outpatient clinical case types to ensure regulatory and organizational standards.
• Apply medical necessity criteria using review hierarchy for level of care and services; complete expected case volume.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and oversight for physical health service requests, including authorization of services and determination of appropriate level of care
• Ensure the integrity and quality of utilization management activities, including initial reviews, concurrent reviews, appeals, and level of care determinations for inpatient and outpatient services
• Participate in internal reviews of inpatient and outpatient clinical case types to ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards
• Apply medical necessity criteria utilizing review criteria hierarchy for level of care and services regarding type, amount, and duration of service. Complete expected case volume as expected by the department

Required Qualifications

Compensation and Benefits

• $210,000 - $269,000+/yr
