Medical Director

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S., providing services seven days a week on a walk‑in basis. We focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine, with onsite labs and in‑house X‑ray capability. This role works directly with a franchisee; responsibilities and benefits may vary between locations.

Job Summary

Provide high‑quality care to all patients, direct staff in patient support, oversee advanced practice providers, and actively represent the center in the community.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality patient care.
• Supervise laboratory operations; obtain certification as a laboratory director and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage all facets of a busy medical practice, including follow‑up, chart review, and policy enforcement.
• Ensure the center has necessary equipment, supplies, and medications.
• Maintain complete and accurate medical records, retraining staff physicians as needed.
• Interview, hire, and train new providers and staff.
• Compile QA data and address issues with staff providers.
• Oversee Occupational Health and Travel Medicine Programs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Board‑Certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine (with at least 1 year of ER/UC experience).
• Excellent communication skills with staff, patients, and families.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Active and current medical licensure in the state of practice, DEA number, and state‑controlled substance certificate as required.
• Ability to multi‑task and work independently.
