Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and mission‑driven Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our MAT programs. This role is ideal for a current Porch Light Health provider who is passionate about addiction medicine, dedicated to improving patient outcomes, and eager to support a multidisciplinary care team. The Medical Director leads by example—delivering direct patient care, mentoring providers, ensuring clinical excellence, and advancing our culture of accountability and compassion. This position plays a critical role in strengthening provider performance, maintaining compliance with MAT regulations, and supporting organizational growth. Open to NM locations in Taos, Espanola, Albuquerque, and Las Cruces.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients receiving MAT for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
  • Prescribe and monitor MAT medications (e.g., buprenorphine, naltrexone), ensuring safe, effective, and compliant use.
  • Evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust care plans as needed to support optimal recovery.
  • Collaborate with behavioral health providers and peer specialists to ensure integrated, person‑centered care.
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
  • Serve as the clinical leader and subject matter expert for MAT services across assigned clinics.
  • Be available to providers on a day‑to‑day basis for clinical consultation, guidance, and support.
  • Create and implement medical policies, protocols, and best practices to ensure safe, consistent, and high‑quality patient care.
  • Educate and mentor the provider team, holding them accountable to clinical, professional, and documentation expectations.
  • Supervise clinical practice, professionalism, and documentation of medical providers.
  • Conduct annual and semiannual performance reviews for supervisees, providing meaningful feedback and development goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in director and leadership meetings to align medical operations with organizational objectives.
  • Independently manage projects assigned by the Senior Medical Director (SMD) or CEO, collaborating with clinic and department leads to ensure timely completion.
  • Support staff morale and well‑being, modeling Porch Light Health’s values and commitment to the mission of recovery and compassionate care.
Collaboration & Quality Improvement
  • Partner closely with counselors, peer recovery specialists, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated and holistic care.
  • Monitor provider performance and patient outcomes, leading initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to all federal and state MAT regulations, documentation standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in and support the development of clinical workflows and operational efficiencies.
Education & Advocacy
  • Promote understanding of substance use disorders and recovery‑oriented care among staff and patients.
  • Stay current with clinical research, treatment guidelines, and best practices in addiction medicine.
  • Provide ongoing education, training, and professional development opportunities for medical providers.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with an active, unrestricted license in the state of Colorado/NM or Master’s/Doctoral degree in nursing (APRN) or physician assistant (PA) with credible experience.
  • Board certification in Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Psychiatry preferred.
  • DEA registration.
Experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience in addiction medicine, including MAT.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Proven success in guiding multidisciplinary teams and managing regulatory compliance.
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision‑making abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, mentorship, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust, foster accountability, and support professional growth within the team.
  • Highly organized, with strong project management and follow‑through.
  • Commitment to Porch Light Health’s mission, values, and recovery‑focused philosophy of care.
Leadership Expectations
  • Model company values of compassion, integrity, collaboration, and accountability in all interactions.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and teamwork, supporting the professional growth and well‑being of staff.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively, ensuring transparency and alignment between clinical teams and leadership.
  • Champion innovation and quality, seeking opportunities to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
  • Uphold the mission of Porch Light Health, ensuring that every clinical and leadership decision advances our shared goal of supporting lasting recovery and community wellness.
