Job summary

Whidbey General Hospital and Clinics is seeking a Courier to support patient care by transporting materials, samples, prescriptions, and other items across Whidbey Island. The role emphasizes safe driving, temperature-controlled transport, and meticulous record-keeping.

The Courier represents the organization professionally while ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to hazardous materials regulations. Experience and a valid WA driving license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hazardous Material Training to be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Washington State Driver License required; driving record checks may be conducted annually.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely drop off and pickup along Whidbey Island route.
• Safely transport laboratory samples maintaining required temperatures and hazmat compliance.
• Deliver prescriptions from the pharmacy to residents' homes and obtain signatures.
• Return undeliverable items to the pharmacy and report delivery concerns.
• Transport pharmacology products per Hazardous Material Training.
• Deliver all items along designated route and sort mail in hospital Mail Room.
• Conduct basic safety checks on vehicle before each shift and report issues.
• Load and unload vehicle using safe lifting techniques.
• Practice safe driving and follow regulations.
• Maintain complete logs and departmental paperwork.
• Maintain professional appearance as a representative of the organization.
• Maintain positive professional relationships with internal and external customers.
