Job summary

The Arc in Meadville, PA seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to provide health care, consultation and assessment to individuals and employees. This role requires applying clinical skills to coordinate medical care and monitor health needs within the residential program.

You will train staff on health topics, support safety and compliance, and participate in meetings. Strong organization, communication and problem-solving abilities are essential to ensure high-quality care and accurate

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Five years of clinical nurse experience preferred.
  • Three years working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health care, consultation and assessment to individuals and employees of The Arc.
  • Provide training to individuals and staff on health topics as requested or needed.
  • Attend quarterly and annual meetings for individuals when requested.
  • Attend Safety Committee meetings as well as other committees as assigned by supervisor.
  • Attend group home house meetings as needed.
  • Schedule medical appointments, prepare the paperwork, brief staff on what to get out of the appointment, check completed paperwork for regulatory compliance, schedule tests & other follow ups.
  • Teach staff how to take blood pressure readings, track weight, test blood sugar, etc.
  • Respond to after-hours medical questions.
  • Attend Emergency Room appointments if necessary.
  • Track medical issues (diet, swallowing, bowel, blood pressure, sugar, weight, etc.).
  • Oversee modified diets, create nutritious menus in accordance with restrictions and conduct informational sessions.
  • Coordinate and conduct Medical Administration training and recertification (train staff on medication, oversee the online training database, watch staff pass medication, maintain appropriate records).
  • Act as the Clinical Reviewer with HRSTs in the licensed programs.
  • Order medical equipment and supplies (gloves, med cups, etc.).
  • Oversee medications and logs, monitor for compliance, track medication changes and administer medication as necessary for the residential program.
  • Work with the primary pharmacy of the homes to coordinate the monthly exchange of house medications, obtain refill and prior authorization orders, and report documentation changes on MARS to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in development and revision of agency policies and procedures as requested.
  • Register clients online for Special Olympics.
  • All other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
