Job summary

Vance Thompson Vision Mso Llc is seeking a Coding Specialist to join our team. You will review coding from the electronic health record system for clinic and surgical claims, ensuring accuracy and completeness of diagnosis and procedure codes, and bill to the appropriate insurance.

You will evaluate surgery schedules, perform monthly audits across clinics, answer calls and emails, and ensure CMS/AMA documentation compliance for CPT and NCCI edits.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Health Information Management or related field.
• Minimum two years in medical coding or equivalent work.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn continuously.

Responsibilities

• Review coding from the electronic health record system for clinic and surgical claims to ensure accuracy and completeness of diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Evaluate surgery schedules, code them, and bill to appropriate insurance.
• Review reports and complete monthly audits for all clinics.
• Answer daily incoming patient/internal calls and emails at the business office.
• Review provider medical records to ensure CMS/AMA documentation compliance for CPT and NCCI edits.
• Review insurance denials for coding corrections and resubmissions and communicate deficiencies to staff.
• Educate clinical staff on proper documentation and trends affecting claim submission.
