Job summary

Weston Distance Learning is seeking a part-time Health Information Technology and Medical Specialties Instructor to train students in Medical Coding from a home office using our online LMS. Responsibilities include grading, tutoring, and maintaining current course content.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in HIT or related field, have at least 5 years of full-time medical coding experience, and CPC/CCS certifications with verifiable scores.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology or closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of full-time work experience in medical coding.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS.
• CPC and CCS certifications with verifiable scores.
• Degree from an agency recognized by US DoE or CHEA (or foreign equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Review and manage courses and exams, including grading and coaching.
• Tutor students via email and online messaging through the LMS.
• Model clear oral and written communication to support learning.
• Provide timely feedback on exams and fairness in grading.
• Collaborate with Curriculum Department for content reviews and updates.

Weston Distance Learning is currently seeking a Health Information Technology (HIT)and Medical Specialties (MS) Instructor tohelp train studentsin the area ofMedical Coding.This is a part-time work-from-home position with the instructor working from a home office using our online learning platform.

Responsibilities

• Review and managecourses andexams, including grading and using innovative ways to provide content coaching.
• Focus on helping students through tutoring appointments,emailandonline messaging through our LMS.
• Model effective oral and written communication that engages the students, providing clarity, and improving student learning.
• Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the grading ofexams and provide timely feedback to students.
• Work with the Curriculum Department in conducting Academic Reviewsand other projectsto ensure content is relevant and current.

Requirements

• Candidates mustpossessa minimum of aBachelor'sdegree in Health Information Technologyor a closely related field.
• Musthaveat least 5yearsfull-time workexperienceandbecurrently employed in theMedical Coding field.
• ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS,CPTand HCPCS knowledge and experience.
• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC)andCertified Coding Specialist (CCS) withabilityto provideverification ofcertificationscores.
• Candidates must hold a degree earned from an institution accredited by an agency that is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or, for non-U.S. institutions, an accepted foreign equivalent that is listed in the International Handbook of Universities (18th ed.)

Starting pay is expected to be $26.50/hour but may vary based on experience.
