Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking an experienced medical coder to translate clinical documentation into precise ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for accurate billing and regulatory compliance. You will review patient records, extract essential data, and apply coding guidelines to support reimbursement and reporting.

Responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and supervisors to ensure documentation reflects care; maintaining up-to-date knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM rules;

Qualifications

• Must hold CPC-A or CPC certification or CCS-P.
• Strong knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work in a team and communicate audit findings.

Responsibilities

• Translate provider documentation into coded form following regulatory guidelines and organizational policies.
• Review patient reports and extract data to apply ICD and CPT codes for billing and reporting.
• Apply ICD diagnosis and CPT procedures with understanding of E/M coding elements.
• Collaborate with supervisor or team lead before communicating with providers to ensure accurate reflection of care.
• Extract pertinent information from health records to support accurate coding.
• Code at a productivity and quality rate aligned with organizational standards.
• Identify inpatient related coding opportunities and ensure compliance.
• Support in follow up work via coding denial workflows.
• Monitor coding practices to identify compliance issues and missed revenue potential.
• Maintain current knowledge base in CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding.
• Disseminate changes in billing rules and regulations to appropriate staff.
• Adhere to compliance regulations and AHIMA code of ethics.
