UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Coding Analyst I or II to join our Coding Department located at our Cancer Center. This opportunity is a HYBRID, full-time, day shift position in New Mexico.

*This position requires the candidate to reside in New Mexico or be willing to relocate.*

*Sign-On Bonus: $2,000*

Medical Coding Analyst 1:

Salary Range: $43,305 - $54,142*

*Salary depends on relevant experience and is based on a 40-hour workweek.*

Medical Coding Analyst 2:

Salary Range: $50,523 - $63,148*

*Salary depends on relevant experience and is based on a 40-hour workweek.*

Summary:

Responsible for coding inpatient/outpatient charges and specialty services using ICD and CPT systems for reimbursement, research, and compliance, including various medical procedures and services. Review medical records to ensure documentation compliance and provide feedback to practitioners. Meet productivity and quality standards and adhere to policies and procedures.

Minimum Job Requirements for Medical Coding Analyst I:

• High School diploma or GED plus 6 months of related experience or completion of UNMMG Medical Coding Internship.
• Certification in at least one: RHIT, RHIA, RCC, CIRCC, CSS, CCA, CCS-P, COC, CIC, CPC, CPC-P, or CPC-A.

Minimum Job Requirements for Medical Coding Analyst II:

• High School diploma or GED plus 2 years of related experience.
• Certification in at least one: RCC, CPC, CIRCC, CPC-P, CCS, CCS-P, COC, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for various inpatient and outpatient services.
2. Resolve coding edits and discrepancies.
3. Ensure documentation in EMR is complete and signatures/addendums are present.
4. Provide feedback to providers regarding documentation deficiencies or clarifications.
5. Maintain confidentiality of medical records.
6. Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
