Job summary

United Vein & Vascular Centers is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to ensure complete and accurate documentation, proper code assignment, and compliance with coding and reimbursement guidelines. You will review clinical documentation to support medical necessity and appropriate coding, working with CPT/ICD-10 coding and EMR systems.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 2 years in healthcare billing and coding, CPT/ICD-10 proficiency, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in healthcare billing and abstract coding.
• CPC-A preferred.
• Solid CPT/ICD-10 knowledge and medical terminology.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred).

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to confirm medical necessity and proper coding.
• Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Verify CPT/ICD linkage and review for NCCI edits.
• Utilize software applications related to patient encounters and services.
• Query physicians when documentation is unclear or coding is not straightforward.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and updates.
• Report documentation, coding, or compliance concerns to management.
• Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, diseases, and procedures relevant to coding.
• Attend coding meetings and provide feedback on documentation trends.
• Collaborate with providers and management on documentation issues.
