Job summary

Nova Medical Services is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team in Florida. You will code multiple specialties, including Cardiology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Psychiatry, and more, ensuring accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.

The role requires reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy, maintaining compliance with CMS/HIPAA guidelines, and collaborating with billing to resolve denials. CPC/CCS preferred; compensation includes benefits and PTO.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, AMA CPT, and ICD-10-CM guidelines.
• Verify medical necessity and proper diagnosis-to-procedure linking.
• Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve claim denials and issues.
• Participate in coding audits and quality reviews.
• Stay updated on coding changes and payer policies.

Position Summary

Nova Medical Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of multi-specialty medical coding, strong analytical skills, and the ability to accurately review clinical documentation and assign appropriate medical codes in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

The Medical Coder will support multiple medical specialties while ensuring coding accuracy, compliance, proper reimbursement, and efficient revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform medical coding for multiple specialties, including Cardiology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Primary Care (PCP), Dermatology, Psychiatry, Neurology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, and Pain Management.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes based on documented diagnoses, procedures, and services.
• Review medical records, physician notes, and clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, AMA CPT, ICD-10-CM, and official coding guidelines.
• Apply appropriate coding guidelines, modifiers, and payer-specific billing requirements.
• Verify medical necessity and ensure proper diagnosis-to-procedure code linkage.
• Review documentation for coding discrepancies, missing information, and potential compliance issues.
• Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify diagnoses and obtain necessary documentation.
• Abstract and enter accurate clinical and demographic information into practice management and billing systems.
• Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related claim denials and reimbursement issues.
• Participate in coding audits, quality reviews, and compliance initiatives.
• Maintain established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time standards.
• Stay updated on coding changes, payer policies, and healthcare regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

Nova Medical Services offers a competitive compensation package, including:

• Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour.
