Job summary

ClareMedica Health Partners in Miami is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to review charts, assign codes, and ensure compliance with risk adjustment guidelines. You’ll examine office and physician notes, diagnoses, and procedures to support accurate coding and billing.

The ideal candidate holds CPC certification (AAPC or AHIMA), has 2 years of coding experience, and strong knowledge of EMR systems and MS Office.

Qualifications

• CPC - Certified Professional Coder; by AAPC or AHIMA.
• High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• CRC – Certified Risk Adjustment Coder, preferred.
• Maintain coding certification and attend in-service training as required.
• Two (2) years of medical coding experience, preferably.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software; Microsoft Office Suite.
• Accurate and precise attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts to verify accuracy, completeness and appropriate coding.
• Review medical records, history, exams, orders and reports to identify conditions for provider validation.
• Perform ongoing analysis of medical charts for coding compliance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local coding rules and guidelines.
• Cooperate with staff to achieve department objectives and maintain good relations.
• Meet daily coding production and participate in departmental meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
