Job description

This is a remote 6‑month contract outpatient surgical coder role with a potential extension or permanent conversion. The client is located in the United States and the coder must be based in AL, AK, AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, LA, KS, KY, ME, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, or WY.

Responsibilities

Review coding denials to determine accurate coding, add additional codes if required, and correct denials without writing appeals. Focus on outpatient surgical coding within the facility. Perform 3‑5 reviews per hour to meet performance standards.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of hospital surgical coding experience
• Experience with outpatient coding
• CCS, CPC, RHIA or RHIT certifications
• Experience working with denials
• Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and coding guidelines
• Epic experience
