Job description

Urban Pain Institute is a reputable medical practice located in Anchorage, Alaska. Committed to providing patient-centered care, the institute offers specialized treatments for managing pain. With an emphasis on professionalism and compassion, Urban Pain Institute serves its community with a focus on improving quality of life. The organization fosters a supportive environment that values excellence and patient satisfaction.

Job Description by Dr. Urban

Recently, it has been exceedingly challenging for recent graduates to get medical clinical experience as a bridge to medical school. I am a double board certified anesthesiologist with a background in academic cardiac and pediatric anesthesiology and have served on residency and medical school admissions committees. Currently, I run a small private interventional pain clinic in Anchorage, Alaska focusing on evidence based sustainable solutions, keeping our patients away from opioids.

With my mentoring and the experience that past medical assistants have received, many have gone on to medical school, PhD programs, PA school or other advanced degrees.

In our modern paperless facility, a well-organized and self-motivated medical/clinical assistant will be responsible for patient flow from registration through check out. You will assist in patient care under the direct supervision of a physician, take vitals, prepare patients for examination and procedures, turn over exam and procedure rooms, and prepare sterile equipment. The assistant will communicate with other physician offices and healthcare facilities. Other clinic and administrative duties may be added, as well as assisting with educational and marketing presentations.

The Ideal candidate is:

• Is someone who desires to advance in the medical sciences or wishes to gain clinical experience to advance in basic sciences and possibly seeks admission to medical school. Several previous assistants have gone on to medical school or other advanced medical careers.

• Is preferably a college graduate. Other clinical experience or medical certification considered.

• Must maintain professional appearance and have excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Must possess excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

• Must work independently but follow clinic protocols.

• Must work accurately in a fast-paced environment.

Salary is NEGOTIABLE!
