Job summary

Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, CA is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain campus grounds, cut and edge lawns, prune trees and shrubs, and keep outdoor spaces safe and well groomed.

You will operate powered equipment, apply fertilizers and pesticides, and work under the Director of Engineering to address safety and maintenance needs. A High School diploma is preferred and a CA driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscaping methods and proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Experience using motorized equipment and hand/power tools for grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate irrigation systems and perform related maintenance.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance on Campus: Remove trash and debris from the parking area and Medical Center entrances.
• Cuts lawns using powered equipment.
• Edges walkways and flower beds using edging tools.
• Rakes leaves and removes debris to an appropriate area.
• Shovels snow from walkways and entrances.
• Prunes shrubs and trees using appropriate powered and non-powered equipment.
• Fertilizes lawn, shrubs, trees, and sprays insecticides.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Pulls weeds.
• Performs painting as needed on grounds.
• Safe Operation of Equipment/Vehicles: Operate Medical Center vehicles safely.
• Operate all tools safely.
