Job summary

Antelope Valley College is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of duties including mowing, trimming, watering, and landscaping on District grounds.

Under the direction of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, you will install and repair irrigation, apply fertilizers and herbicides, maintain athletic fields, parking lots, and roadways, and operate a wide range of grounds equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years grounds maintenance, landscaping or irrigation experience.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Incumbents must qualify for a forklift certificate within first year.
• Experience with sprinkler systems, fertilization and pest control a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, prune, weed, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
• Design, install and repair sprinkler systems and manage irrigation.
• Apply fertilizers and herbicides; maintain related records.
• Prepare athletic fields and maintain parking lots and roadways.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment and vehicles.
