Medical Cats Program Coordinator
APA! BACKGROUND: Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is a leading nonprofit in Austin, known for its no-kill movement and innovative animal rescue programs. The organization rescues, treats, and adopts out thousands of animals annually, aiming to make Austin a no-kill city and supporting other communities in saving animals. APA! also shares its lifesaving model nationally through American Pets Alive! and participates in collaborative projects like Human Animal Support Services (HASS).
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Medical Cats Program Coordinator oversees and expands the Medical Cats Program, supporting feline lifesaving efforts, including cats with medical challenges such as leukemia, diabetes, seizures, and more. Responsibilities include managing intakes, supporting fosters and adopters, developing care protocols, coordinating volunteers, data management, and education initiatives. The role also involves creating and delivering educational content about medical conditions.

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to handle animals safely, lift 40-50 pounds, work in noisy and busy environments, and handle zoonotic diseases. The role involves indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to animal waste, odors, and potential hazards.
TIME & LOCATION: Full-time, 40 hours/week, flexible schedule, based at APA! Town Lake Animal Center, with travel as needed. Some after-hours and weekend work required.
